Plant-Based Foods Decrease Risk of Prostate Cancer

Tomato products and other plant-based foods reduce the risk of prostate cancer, according to a study published in Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention. Researchers analyzed the diets of 1,806 prostate cancer patients and 12,005 men without prostate cancer. The results showed that the more their diets were plant-based, the lower their risk of prostate cancer. Also, consuming 10 or more servings of tomatoes and tomato products per week, specifically, was associated with an 18 percent reduced risk for prostate cancer.
